WFWPI Photography Masterclass

On June 28, WFWPI hosted the WFWPI Photography Masterclass with 55 participants who joined virtually from around the globe. The purpose of this masterclass was to teach basic photography skills to WFWP members and reporters, for various events and project activities, using both cameras and smartphones.
Mrs. Paris Moon, WFWPI International Secretary-General, opened the session by introducing the purpose of the masterclass. Mrs. Moon stated that WFWP has many excellent activities worldwide, however, because of the lack of quality promotional materials, great activities go unpromoted and get “put on the shelves.” She sincerely hopes that this masterclass, teaching valuable skills in photography and videography, will be the first step in developing the area of promotion and marketing at WFWP.
Ms. Suji Rangala, a young professional and photographer from Kenya, led the main session and gave a presentation on “What is Photography?” and taught the audience step-by-step guidelines on how to take quality photos. Ms. Rangala went into detail, starting from how to hold the photography device, to preparing the appropriate lights and even finding the best angles. She displayed sample pictures from her latest event in Africa, and shared her own life experiences of being a photographer.
The presentation was then followed by a Q&A session, in which participants were able to ask questions on the topic. This became the highlight of the session and created an interactive atmosphere with participants and Ms. Rangala.
The WFWPI Photography Masterclass became a knowledgeable and fruitful learning experience for the participants. WFWPI plans to conduct a second photography masterclass in the future.
